Lady Jocks
Lady Jocks -
Documentary Feature Film
Lady Jocks is an extraordinary feature documentary about female jockeys currently horseracing against men. The film is brilliantly shot and the stories are controversial. One female jockey Kayla Stra, races while being pregnant and then is banned from breast feeding in the female jocks room after her son is born. Chantal Sutherland experiences threats from male jockeys. Others experience lack of support from owners and trainers to allow them to race simply because they are women. Yet, these women race extremely well and are a power to be reckoned with, WINNING successfully and are TOP riders! "Lady Jocks" follows three main top female jockeys, Chantal Sutherland-Kruz, Cheryl Charlton, and Kayla Stra. The film also features many other top celebrity male and female jockeys, as well as celebrity HRTV analyst and spokespersons. It is a woman's film in many ways, but it is undeniably a Sports documentary for everyone. It has plenty of action and race footage! More than any other horse racing documentary out there now. The audience will literally feel like they are riding the race themselves. The cameras follow the action extremely well, especially during the ladies final races in the film.
The film was produced and shot over 2 1/2 years by two female UCLA films students, cinematographer Sandy Stenzel and director Kelly Artz. The film was also produced and edited by National Journalism award winner Tane McClure, and Emmy Winning Reporter Giselle Fernandez. Giselle also narrates the film.
